Youth Place: Honor Your Mother

· Deuteronomy 5:16:

"Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee".

Prayer: "Almighty God, we ask Your blessing on each mother today. Fill their hearts with laughter and joy. Surround them with love from family and friends. Grant them health, peace, and fulfillment as they pursue their calling. Let them know their value and worth in Your eyes and ours. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

Youth, I wanted to give you five biblical, practical keys to honoring your mother this month of Mothers’ Day. Remember that praying for her, spending quality time together, and showing gratitude are also important ways to honor your mother. These actions demonstrate respect and love, aligning with the biblical commandment to honor your parents.

Her it goes…..

 1. Forgiveness:

Forgiveness is crucial in honoring your mother. Forgiving her mistakes and shortcomings, even when difficult, demonstrates that you respect and love her.

2. Care for her:

Taking care of your mother's physical and emotional needs, especially as she ages, is a significant way to honor her. This can involve providing practical help, showing compassion, and expressing love with words of encouragement and gratitude.

3. Seek her wisdom:

Recognize your mother's intelligence, wisdom and experience and seek her guidance on life's challenges. She knows more than you just based on her longer experience of living this life.

4. Allow her to change:

Understanding that people change over time and being open to your mother's growing personality will help you maintain a healthy relationship with her. Have grace with her. Have mercy.

5. Ask for her advice:

Seeking your mother's advice on important matters, such as career choices or relationships, shows that you value her opinion and wisdom. Your mom is a woman and a person with emotional and intellectual needs. It is a good feeling to be needed and when you ask for your mother’s help, it allows her to use her God given gifts to nurture you,

Be aware, there will come a day when your mother leaves this world. The time to honor her is now. Once she is gone, it will be too late.

Love on your mamma.

God Bless,

~Steven
